You cannot buy a Slurpee without encountering partisanship nowadays. It's sad how willing folks are to adopt veiwpoints they haven't given much thought to, simply because some other guy (Who makes a million and wants to rule the world) claims to support that opinion.
How many Republicans would really *LIKE* to see major health care reform, stronger environmental policy, and better education?
How many Democrats would really appreciate a safer country, less drugs readily available, and seeing a really *bad* murderer get the chair?
Partisanship forces folks to mold themselves to an ideology without considering its facets. I'm a Democrat, without doubt, and I won't apologize for it. However, I'm not going to claim folks shouldn't own guns (I've owned some, although I don't any more), the death penalty is all that "cruel and unusual" (For many murderers, they've already determined how much "cruelty" is acceptable), or that a jobless woman should continue to be jobless and living off the state simply because she didn't use a condom... 4 times.
Yet every day I fight partisan battles and make assumptions based on my Democratic standing- even as I'm aware that I am.
