I've known many many people in the military, and like everyone else, some are great, some are jerks.

My former step-father == Col. in the Colorado Air National Guard and a complete jerk.

My uncle == Col. in the Colorado Army National Guard and one of the most honest and nicest guys you could ever know.

My great uncle == Col. in the Colorado Army National Guard: somewhere between the other two.
