Everyone knows the future of programming is FORTRAN.
Honestly though, every language has its good points and bad points and I don't think we will ever have one language leading things into the future.
The new wave in programming will probably a more visual way to create large programs. e.g. a program systematically created from UML diagrams and a visually drawn UI. Although, there will still be people programming at a lower level to make this all happen.
