I think it cost $10 or so. I don't remember really, but I know it couldn't have been very much--I was a young college student backpacking around Europe on a very tight budget.
Also, when I was in high school, a friend did his gf while we were driving around in my parents car. Another guy was driving, so I could see them grinding.
