Recording DVD audio to MP3

A friend of mine is trying to record some audio from one of his DVDs into mp3. He's tried using Easy MP3 Recorder and Easy MP3 Recorder from www.mp3-recorder.net however he says they each give him errors:

Quote:
on easy mp3 recorder, to record the audio, it says pick "stereo mixer" or the equivalent from the list of recorders in the drop down menu, but the menu is empty for me, and on the other one, it performs a test and says the sound card is incabable of recording
So, he came to me saying he was going to buy a new sound card since his couldn't do this and wanted me to help him find one, however I don't think he should need to buy a different soundcard in order to do this (btw I believe he's presently using onboard sound on a MSI K7Master mobo).

Any thoughts on the situation? I'd hate to see a friend of mine end up spending money on something that's not necessary. I figure there's probably just a better program out there to use or something.
