I don't know if everyone does this when they masturbate but I'll get myself almost to climax and then stop, it's like the muscles still flex up but you don't orgasm yet. I guess it's kinda like a exercise for the muscles in the penis and if you do it a lot then it'll build the muscles up and you'll shoot further. Maybe Im wrong but I think it makes sense.
