Well, considering the fact that christian means christlike, I don't think he could really get around it.
However, he certainly wouldn't proclaim to be the wierd version of christianity that we see today. During his lifetime he was a jew, and I imagine that he would still consider himself one. After all, if he was the son of god, he was probably able to pick the correct religion back then, why would that have changed?
