Hawksley Workman - "Your Beauty Must Be Rubbing Off"
well, this is most definitely not my cup of tea, musically speaking. however, for fans of this type of music (irish/celtic folk, I guess youd call it) it is worth a listen. Hawksley has a very expressive voice and theres an urgency to his phrasing that adds something to this expression of love. his lyrics are interesting and carry a certain weight of conviction. theres a tendency to try to pack a couple too many words into each line, but its nothing thats overtly annoying or distracting. I thought the use of the steel drums added a nice island flavor to the tune which blended well with the overall upbeat tempo. this wont be going into my permanent playlist, but its certainly worthy of keeping if you like this sort of music. I dont, but that is not a reflection of the tune, but rather the genre.
