The file is generated by /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config. This is what was recommended to me by the Gentoo install documents. No, the video card is not a nVidia card, it is an intel 815 series onboard card that X should have no problem with.

It should autodetect your video card, and give you a reasonable config to start with. Give it a try, but be warned, it has a hard time with mice.

Ill give that a shot and get back to ya'll. Does this place the config file in the correct location, or in a temp location for me to edit further and then copy in?
