It took Jackson eight plus years to make all three LotR movies from beginning to end. Just because they hit theatre three consecutive years doesn't mean it took Jackson that long to make them. Lucas didn't make all three together, so this comment is comparing apples to oranges.
Personally, I enjoyed Episodes 1 and 2, and am looking forward to Episode 3. Was there stuff that could have been done better? Absolutely! Were they worthy of the original trilogy? Not even close! But I was still very entertained by both movies. As far as I'm concerned, bring on Episodes 7 to 9!
