I found out about them from the movie High Fidelity - I would imagine many other Americans found out the same way I did. You've probably heard them being compared to Radiohead b/c they opened up for them last year.

But the Pink Floyd reference is accurate - they are an electronic 'Ummagumma' Pink Floyd era band. 'Dry The Rain' is among my all time favorite songs.

That's likely because they hit their peak 5 to 10 years ago. They were a very popular indie rock band, so they're not quite a band that no one has heard of. Jon Spencer was originally in the 80's band Pussy Galore which spawned Royal Trux & Boss Hogg.
