White to stay at OU
NORMAN - Oklahoma quarterback Jason White, less than a week after winning the Heisman Trophy, has told teammates he will return for a sixth season next year.
White, who has thrown for 3,744 yards and 40 touchdowns this season, could have entered the NFL draft.
But after talking to his parents and coach Bob Stoops, the Tuttle native decided to return.
White qualified for another season of eligibilty under NCAA bylaw 20.6.1, the five-year, 10-semester waiver.
Student-athletes have five years in which to complete four years of eligibility. The bylaw stipulates that when a student-athlete's eligibility is delayed by circumstances beyond personal control, such as injury, the five-year period may be extended.
White suffered a back injury in 1999 and a season-ending knee injury in 2002.
"Anyone who has played college football will understand (my decision)," White said in a statement. "I had been leaning this way and just decided today that I am sure this is what I want to do. I really look forward to another year at Oklahoma."

definately not good for us texas fans eh?
i think this is the right choice for him. if he went into the draft, he'll get picked maybe 3rd or 4th round, but if he really proves himself next year, his stock could be much more valuable.
now it looks like pretty much EVERYONE is returning on the OU squad. the most noticable loss will be mike stoops, but venebles (?) should easily fill those shoes.
i wish him good luck, except on oct 11th
