A shitty boss means it is time to leave. Statistically, most people leave companies due to a bad boss, not a bad job. YOu can't change a bad boss, and someone has given them credibility with the promotion.
The Peter Principle.... most people are promoted beyond their level of compentency. Most are promoted because they do a good job but are never trained on how to manage other people doing the old job they were good at.
