On a more practical note, cover your windows. If your dorms are anything like our dorms (small concrete box with window) your windows will be whats making your room the coldest. Theres no need for ugly plastic sheeting (the ladies don't like that). Buy some blankets and some kind of rigging to hang the blankets in front of the glass.
Get a space heater if your school will let you. If they won't let you then buy some big ole' high wattage lamps, you can stay warm like a Hardee's sandwitch.
