Oh its good to strain, but people think that if they do it all in 1 set that they will get bigger, and thats just not true.

I am a personal trainer in real life, and I am telling you that your information is semi inaccurate. Proper technique is the key to avoid injury. Eeking out another few reps to take advantage of having a spotter is how you make gains once you inevitably hit your plateau.
