1) getting a little FM transmitter that plugs into the top of your output device (MP3, CD whatever). This can be bought for next to nothing from radio shack. It then transmits on a preset frequency or two so all you have to do is tune in your car stereo to that frequency and out it comes with FM clarity.
Note: very funny if you set up the right channels in some chick's house on the stereo, and then amaze her with your ability to 'predict' the next song. Man... the favours I have exacted using this gag
2) You get a jack lead out the top of your mp3/cd straight into a jack hole on the car stereo head unit.
Note this is is very rare but by far the best. Why these car stereo clowns don't wake up and smell the coffee amazes me. I have to butcher all my car stereos to do it.

the FM transmitter sometimes makes for lower sound quality as per the new iPod FM transmitter.
And as far as the AUX port.... the new MINI has one available for $40 from the dealer...now mind you it's what maybe $4... but you don't have to do anything but drop your car off and pick it up and it's still under warranty
