I've used mine with regular cd players, Rio Mp3 players, and Rio Volts, and it has never given me problems either.
Just be sure to get the power adapter too so you can plug it into the car, therefore being able to put the volume of the device all the way up and not waste batteries...the higher the volume of the discman/whatever, the better quality will come through the car speakers.
