Submission
song i wrote for my band about 9 years ago. I like the rhythm of it, but it's admittedly juvenile in it's verse. And certainly my mentalitly has changed. It used to be alot longer and the rhythm of it did change throughout the song - but this is what I remember of it after 9 years (these probably comprised mainly the chorus of the song) - I was more proud of the sax part I wrote for it though, it was just my turn to actually sit down and write lyrics - anyway, enough disclaimers:
.Submission
I was always aware things changed over time
The things i did didn't matter so i didn't mind
Couple years go by nothing stays the same
Friends are all different, the whole world has changed.
To stop and love is to submit, not your body your mind
When you don't, feel safe, and just pass with the time
I'll play the sax, skateboard, kick back and drink beer
Content in the knowledge, no submission no fear.
Then I looked back and saw something i missed
Radically different from the normal list
I let it slip through my fingers, dissolved with the others
Kick back, drink beer hope for another.
Incontent in the knowlege i ain't got it made
'til I'm living my life afraid
