Quick question, as I ran into a bug installing RH9 yesterday.. When it scans for your monitor and video card information, does it say 15" or something in it? That is, does it actually have quotation marks? This causes a parse error in the XF86Config file.
If it's dying on checking media, just tell it not to check the media. Also, check alt-F2, F3, F4, etc. to see if there are any noticeable errors.
