Here is the place to argue who is #2.
Here are the contenders:
USC - Likely ranked #2 in the AP and ESPN polls. USC has Arizona, UCLA (who thought it would be fun to lose to Stanford last nite), and a championship game - not exactly a daunting schedule. But will the lower SOS hurt them?
Florida State - Has Clemson and NC State the next two weeks. Either of these two teams can possibly step up, but neither is playing great ball - rather, each is a disappointment this year. Chris Rix would have to revert to his old ways for a hiccup here.
Miami - Now a darkhorse - they'll need some help from some other teams on this list. Should argue that they beat Florida State, so they deserve it - but then VT can say "we beat Miami." Has Tennessee, Rutgers, and Syracuse - not exactly an awe inspiring schedule. They won't get hurt playing Tennessee, but it won't help their SOS either.
Ohio State - Has Purdue, Michigan State, and Michigan on the schedule. If Ohio State sweeps these games, they will almost certainly have the best strength of schedule in the whole BCS. That will help them - if everything else is equal - why not pick the team that has played the best opponents?
LSU - Has a more difficult schedule than everyone except Ohio State. Alabama and Ole Miss are on the docket. This is gonna be tough for this LSU team, whcih probably needs a little help. But they are higher in the polls than OSU, and they'll get SOS points.
Virginia Tech - These guys should be ashamed of their strength of schedule. They DO have the victory over Miami, which would seemingly make it hard to put Miami over them. Pittsburgh is next.

Remember, these are teams that are also elligible for the BCS bowls - which isn't so shabby. It's all come down to these teams, folks. Let's take a look.
