interesting.....methinks true trolling must be a rare occurrence here if you believe my previous post to be one... allow me to clarify my stance:
- nowhere in my previous post did i say that ALL christians were sheep. i believe that many are, but certainly not all.
- a sheep seems to be very accurate, however, and as far as i can tell from reading the NT (which i've done), a true chrisitan would WANT to be a sheep! after all, jesus himself referred to his followers, indirectly, as sheep - they are his flock, and he is the good shepherd. in addition, i have heard sermons lauding the qualities of a sheep, and saying directly that people should aspire to be a sheep, and a member of the right flock.
- i would consider many sheep because they simply believe what someone else told them. and i used to be like this: i was told that the bible was the perfect Word Of God, and that jesus existed. i believed it for a long time, but no longer. as for the first, several contradictions, both direct internal (one part of the bible contradicts another) and direct external (the bible doesn't agree with archeological findings). as for the second, i believe that there is a distinct possibility of some man who radically changed judaism, but simply don't currently believe in his divinity.
finally, please understand that my stance is not one of blind hatred - what i don't like is being preached at, and folks using poor logic to defend their beliefs, not to mention people saying "i believe therefore it's true!" that is incorrect - truth is independant of belief.
for those interested,
this link opened my eyes. while i may not believe ALL of the opinion stated on this page (and it is a long read), the concrete evidence provided made me stop and reevaluate my beliefs.
and every time you reevaluate your beliefs, it's a good thing.
