Wind Swept Fire
licking tall blades of grass
like a child searching its' cracker
finding every last bit of salt
in lazy dumbfounded glory
climbing towards the atmosphere
for its next pocket of oxygen
fuel for the fire, until it expires
issuing rolling hills of smoke
into the flowing highway of sky
as if manufacturing packages
boxing, labeling, and addressing
to be sent out into the world
roaring through vast forests and fields
penetrating into the hearts of habitats
driving animals and humans alike
like a farmer whipping his oxen into submission
combing the earth for new found fuel
leaving darkness and despair in its' wake
traveling to once distant lands
that once held "unwelcome" mats upon their doorsteps
being pushed onward
in all its' ferocity
by the four winds of fury
wind swept fire.....
