Big College Football Saturday!
I can't believe some of the match-ups this Saturday. I am foregoing the usual and am having some friends over for the Ohio State/Wisconsin game. Hope this doesn't change any mojo.
Let me know what you think about the forthcoming Saturday! Predict them all, or just pick some! Who will win? Who will get blown out? Who will start looking forward to next year?
Friday:
Michigan at Minnesota
Prediction: Michigan by a touchdown. Minnesota needs to run the ball well to be effective, as their passing game relys heavily on play action. Michigan shuts down the run and wins the Little Brown Jug.
TCU at South Florida
Prediction: South Florida by two touchdowns. This is the game to watch tonite, as favored South Florida eliminates TCU from the top twenty-five. TCU goes on to split remaining games and fails to take even a piece of Conference-USA.
Saturday:
Miami at Florida State
Prediction: Florida State by a field goal. In the late seconds. Not wide right. On one hand, you have a somewhat depleted Miami team. But are you really gonna put your money on Chris Rix? Didn't think so. This game is close, but sloppy.
Michigan State at Illinois
Prediction: Michigan State is one of those teams that can't win when they are supposed to. One team is only 1-5, while the other is 5-1, yet the spread is only 3 and a half. Watch the scoreboard here, State either wins by three touchdowns or gets flat beat.
Oklahoma and Texas
Prediction: Saddle up at the pony arena at the Texas State Fair by the third quarter. It's not a game to miss, but you'll find time to mow the lawn by the third quarter. Texas finds it can't run the ball, which it never can in big games. Neither Texas QB - Destiny or Juvenile - has success without the threat of the run. Noone is surprised here, Texas losses by a couple scores.
Penn State at Purdue
Prediction: Joe Paterno congratulates Bobby Bowden on all-time win record.
Oregon at Arizona State
Prediction: Noone plays defense. Arizona State figures out why Oregon has the worst secondary in college football. Oregon DB's go out for ice cream after the game and get beat to the last table by several AARP members.
Notre Dame at Pittsburgh
Prediction: Rod Rutherford has a coming out party. How can a guy that's been this dominate not be mentioned for the Heisman? He is after this game. Pittsburgh by two scores.
Nebraska at Missouri
Prediction: Nebraska by default. Missouri's QB is overrated, and Nebraska just has too many pure athletes on the field. Look for some big plays by Nebraska to put this one away.
Georgia at Tennessee
Prediction: This is truly a must win game for two teams that each have a loss in the SEC. I watched Tennessee make Marshall and South Carolina look better than they are. Georgia by more than the experts think. Wouldn't it be just like college football if one of the teams from the weaker SEC East beat their opponent from the stronger SEC West in the title game? At any rate, I think two SEC teams are eventually BCS bound.
Ohio State at Wisconsin
Prediction: I will never actually pick Ohio State to win. Let's just say that Wisconsin QB Sorgi is awfully streaky, and they depend on the run game to carry them. Ohio State has the number one run defense in the land.
Stanford at Southern California
Prediction: USC players move on after college football to work for Stanford players. For the time being, USC players have the upper hand. USC by thirty.
Buffalo at Miami of Ohio
Prediction: Governor Bob Taft forced to call in the National Guard to deal with unexpected medical crisis. Buffalo players litter hospitals from Toledo to Columbus. Ben Roethelsberger seen filing his nails in street clothes after the first quarter.
Kansas State at Oklahoma State
Prediction: Oklahoma State makes fewer mental errors, and also has success against a very suspect defensive front for K-State. Oklahoma State by a field goal.
Northwestern at Indiana
Prediction: This would be the Toilet Bowl if it weren't for the UL Lafayette vs. UL Monroe game. However, Northwestern can actually play a bit - they've got talent at running back. Northwestern by more than the experts think.
Central Florida at Ohio University
Prediction: This is already the game of the week. Ohio University loves homecoming games. The triple option kills Central Florida. Ohio University quarterbacks go 4 for 8 in the passing game, resulting in their best effort of the season. Ohio University rolls.
