I don't get them often, but when I do, they're misery. I often get the aura and the strange metallic taste, and then (and this was scary the first time it happened) the left side of my body goes numb and tingly. And then I just want to bash my head in to make the pain stop. Nothing to do but take something to knock me out till it's gone. My sister gets them even worse - we thought she had a stroke the first time she had one. She had the one-sided numbness, slurred speech, altered mental state. She couldn't speak properly - knew what things were but couldn't think of the words for them, etc. She takes Midrin for them, but she gets them much more frequently than I do. Since I started taking bc pills constantly, and only have a period 3 times/year, I hardly have them at all, maybe once/year. Thank god.
