Absolutely true. College just means that for a short span of time a student did what was required to get a degree. There are plenty of extremely intelligent and successful people who never went to college.
By the same token, college has provided the confidence, knowledge, and skills to a lot of people to achieve great things.
College is more useful for some people while real-life experience is more useful for others.

Yeah, well there are a lot of extremely intelligent and successful people who DID go to college.
The argument that college isn't necessary because a few rich and famous folks didn't get a college education seems to me to be a way to justify avoiding the time, effort and cost of college.
For every Bill Gates, there's gotta be 100 CEO's making serious cash. Gates is an example of the exception to the rule.
