The NSX prototype (1989) had a 3.0 V6 (w/o VTEC) and squeezed out 250 HP. This was unusually small compared to Ferrari's 3.4 V8 and Porsche's 3.6 flat-6.
Than the official release got VTEC and the power increased to 270 HP. This was also the first road car to use titanium con-rods.
I couldn't find any info about the prev usage of the engine...
Anybody???
