The first decent production 4WS car was the Honda Prelude in 1987.
Before 1987:
- Mercedes-Benz 170VL (cross-country military vehicle) in 1938
- Nissan Skyline (not GT-R) in 1985 had 4WS, but it steered the whole rear suspension mounting sub-frame
