As strange as this will sound, I can vouch for the overall fairness of the moderators. Hell, I've gotten deep into it with sixate more than once - not once was there ever a hint that he would do anything moderator-ish to me. Not ever. The personal political beliefs of the moderators are something you should attempt to discern for yourself by engaging them in discussion, rather than by asking for them outright. Doing it this way makes it look - not that this is your rationale, but it does look - like you're seeking something to use as justification for the locking of another thread.

I think you'll find more than plenty of people here who are willing to vehemently disagree with you on matters of politics (or other topics, depending on the section) without taking on the moderators on matters of policy.
