How to safely light my old-ass gas oven - do the steps in this order:
Open oven door. remove everything from the oven that you do not intend to cook. (I can't be the only one who keeps the cereal boxes in there)
Strike the match and hold it kindasorta close to the little doohickey in the front.
Turn on the gas and then hold the match into the doohickey. The oven will light and in doing so, blow out the match.
Close the oven door, put the match somewhere where it won't burn anything, and set the temp.
