Delsid is right, it's a lifestyle change rather than a short-term thing, but that said, I've tried Weight Watchers and it worked wonders for me. Essentially, it's a way to point out to you how much you eat - and teach you to do so in moderation. Once you figure that out, you don't need the program any more. I lost about 10-15 lbs on Weight Watchers two years ago when I tried it, but fell off the wagon and gained it all back - plus another five.
This year, I made the decision to keep the weight off - and made a bet with a friend to keep me working at it. We both wanted to lose 20 lbs and are both hypercompetitive people - so we bet $100 per 10 lbs. It came down to moving more (I take the stairs to and from my 13th floor office, instead of the elevator), eating less (goodbye to my thrice weekly pizza binges), cutting back greatly on alcohol and drinking more water. I switched from Sprite to Seltzer, also. Still gives you the bubbly taste, which is what I really liked, and fills you up fast - but zero calories.
Good luck!
