we did this last year in a dorm at college here..
my buddies used the reccomended blue tape that is supposed to leave the paint on the walls, but at the end of the year it took ALL the paint off that the tape was on.
I used some good Scotch tape (not the cheap stuff, the good rolls) and it left everything just fine, only downside is that it doesnt stick as well as some other tapes.
