At the risk of seeming hopelessly antiquated, what on earth is wrong with the word *chick?* I'm a woman who came of age in the 1970's, and I refer to myself as a chick. I don't like to be called a girl, woman is rather formal, tho' at times appropriate, and female sounds so clinical. For me, chick has no negative connotations- it's kind of friendly-sounding. Maybe just different generation's interpretations of the word's connotations.
Oh, and the best way to meet a girl for more than a one-night stand- be yourself- as corny as that might sound. People dig sincerity.
