She certainly was not justified in biting him over a joke, any more than a man would be justified in hitting a woman (or another man) over a joke, no matter how tasteless. As for him hitting her, I don't really feel that it was justified, but I think it's probably going to be a common reaction when a man thinks his penis is about to get bit off...
