Forgotten Ranger
Was it wind swept fire that just passed through here?
I ask to my smoldering friend
As his carcass lays against the burnt offering
Of what was once a pine tree
There was no sign of danger here
Unless a power I have not imagined
Decided to test this poor soul
And use it’s abilities for pleasure
Smoke did not fill these lungs
Or the mountain range
So why dost this figure
Sit against a tree?
I feel no other presence around me
All the minds I know are miles away
Wait!!!
A being I’ve not encountered is above me
It flies with grace I envy so
As I stare at the circle of flames
Leaping up my boots
Devouring the earth beneath my feet
And the clothes on my back
An eye blink before my shrieks of fear
Rise to the occasion
I thought I heard a villainous laugh
Mocked by a grin from ear to ear
