APC
APC as in "A Perfect Circle," not the battery-backup company.
Being the courteous kind of guy I am (and I'm not; that was a blatant lie), I thought I'd let you all know that the new APC album, Thirteenth Step , is amazing.
It's very different from Mer de Noms conceptually. I'm not much into the wine-lingo, so I can't say "It has a mildly precocious taste" and have any idea what i'm talking about, so bear with me.
It's easy to see the transition from, say, "Brena," "Thomas," or "Rose" to "The Noose," "A Stranger," and "Gravity."
The melody remains slower and deeper, while transitions from one rift to the next prohibit any real use of bridges and repetitive choruses.
It's also got a few more caustic tracks, like "Weak and Powerless," and "Pet." I'd say they've become more contemplative, but by no means weaker.
Anywhoo, buy it. DL it if you must, but the CD's only $10 at Best Buy, so let the band see 15 cents or so, a gold record or two, and give 'em a reason to make more music.
