The first I even heard of this game was yesterday, and there doesn't seem to be much talk of it anywhere except the main site, but I think it's worthy of some attention.

It's like Freelancer, only it's supposed to be a helluva lot more in depth. Apparently there's already 1 or 2 games in the series that were a hit, but only with a smallish cult following it seems.

It basically follows the same idea as freelancer, being in space with different groups, some good some bad. Theres tons of ships you can get for fighting, mining, trade etc. You can do side quest missions or follow the main story aswell. Only in X2 you can actually own stations and companies and what not. One thing that might turn some off though is the lack of multiplayer but, from what I've read it looks like that game will be plenty worth the cost anyway. Theres a non-playable rolling demo/benchmark out for it too. I just got done trying it out, and it has me hooked already! The graphics look amazing, more so then freelancer's which were pretty good IMO. Shows clips from the different parts of the game, and it looks like they've got a pretty good one here. Even if you didn't like freelancer, or don't like space sim/rpgs I highly recomend DLing the demo anyway, it's definatly worth the 40 mb DL. Needs a fairly good computer with a higher end video card to play good, but you can adjust it a bit. The main site has a few DL links, but here's a couple more just in case.

Unless they cut stuff out before release in October (that's the current date) I will definatly consider buying this game. Now I'm off to watch the demo again!
