Kohler engines are common. All maintainence parts for them can be bought at normal places like Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, etc as many of the standard parts are analogous the go-cart, atv, and tractor parts.
Rokon's have been around a loooong time, and I knew people that had them for serious mountain riding decades ago. They will climb damned near anything. Top speed is no big deal as off-roading in seriously rough terrain is not done quickly anyway. 6.6 horsepower is plenty enough to carry the loads it was intended to carry (pretty damned heavy) so long as the engine is torquey at low rpm's and it is geared properly. Remember, it only takes one horsepower to carry you up a mountain and down the other side if it is a real horse, and less than one horsepower if it is your own legs doing the walking. Horsepower is not particularly germane when discussing off-road capability.
And ugly? What planet are you from? Who cares if it is ugly when it can haul your butt up the side of a mountain that you wouldn't be able to hike up? It is not designed to be pretty, it is designed to carry you up the side of a mountain.
I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I lived in an area like my father grew up in (western North Carolina in the Appalachians). Best off-roader I've ever used up there was a home-brew mini-bike powered by a simple single cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine.
