I've fortunately never had those problems. All of my gf's has been completely smooth everywhere, except from the top of their heads.
One of them talked me into shaving my crotch... just for the fun of it. And it also looks funny... looks rather pathetic, acctually.
like i was a 10 year old boy again and not 19.
