I usually chew the fingernails off my left hand when they get annoying long or when the fiance says they are uncomfortable in her unmentionables. My right hand is 100% different. I play flamenco so I usually spend once a day buffing the sides and tips of my right hand fingernails. I keep them from 3-5 1/2 millimeters long(starting from the end of the skin under the nail.) I also have to shape them every week or two depending on how much I play. I get a lot of funny looks but I couldnt live without my nails and periodically I end up wearing silk wraps when I break a nail.
