i'll be moving to ecuador in 3 years.

the important is to have people u can trust, in any country people will happily depart a foreigner from his money in scams & tourist-traps.
i wouldn't burn all my bridges if i were u, you won't know if u can adapt until you've tried it. but i do advise you to try it.
