Oooooo this is a hard one! Japanese bamboo (Polygonum cuspidatum) is very hard to kill...... what you have to do is cut all of the hard bamboo out, then spray the area with a strong dose of super concentrate Roundup, then cover the area with heavy black plastic tarps....... this will block out all the light and slow down the growing process, as the new soft shoots push up on the tarp you step on them...... It will take a long time but it will work.
