More pleats generally equate to more formal. When buying a suit, more pleats usually go with more conservative designs. Today, runway models (unconservative) have even dropped down to no pleats at all. I'd say just mix and match. If you go with pleats, wear some nicer shoes and a matching belt so you look well-put together

I personally stick to flatfront.
