Kadath: Bullseye
Nothing is more impotent than an online petitiion. The big thing with petitions, letter writing campaigns, and the like is that the target of the campaign needs to see how dedicated the organizer and contributor of the campaign are.
A sea of written letters with postage attached to each one is good. Tens of thousands of hand collected signatures & addresses is good.
A web page written for petitions that requires 3 minutes of work from the organizer, 5 seconds of work from each participant, and if anything offers a gaurantee that a good portion of the signatures are fake or duplicates does not send a strong message.
Now if everyone had started writing real letters to FOX, collecting signatures by hand, and writing real letters to all of FOX's advertisers stating they weren't going to be watching FOX anymore because of this, etc... there might have been results.
Shows have been saved in the past and this is the type of work that accomplished that.
Of course I can't stand on a pulpit here, I'm to lazy to do anything. Just wanted to put this out as an FYI for people that actually think they can make a difference by signing a web petition.
