I played lacrose in high school, and I love to watch it. I think most people aren't into it because it just isn't a significant part of their culture. We already have a couple 'everymans sports' like football, baseball, and basketball. They are traditional and lacross really isn't.
I think lacrosse will steadily become more popular, and will maybe rival hockey in twenty years, but I doubt it will spread much further than that.
