i'm red/orange color blind.
when i first came to school at UMCP, my mother and i were in the book center and she looked around and said 'everything on these walls is bright red, and it looks good on you.'
so if anyone was to look in my closet, they'd see only one shade of red - university of maryland bright red. no orange, no pink, no other shades of red.
when i go clothes shopping, i try to make sure i wear a UMD shirt, and i match them up.
as for what being colorblind is like, i don't think it's all that different from anything else. i can't actually distinguish different shades from each other like i can with blues and greens. it's only a problem, really, when it comes to clothes, and i solve that by just sticking with very bright red, if i'm going to wear red, or by letting my mother shop for me.
the only other times i've ever run into a problem is in talking about cars.
apparently, there's 437 billion different shades of red on cars. whatever. ask me what a car looks like, and i will tell you 'it's red.' that's it. the best i can do.
