Interesting question for me - I work in a bar and hope to own my own one day.
I'd give free drinks to off-duty staff and close friends.
In the bar I work at we get at least one free drink after we finish, often more if the manager is in a generous mood and/or it's been a busy night. Most I've managed to get in one night is 4 pints.
