Of course, the reason that the flatshare failed was NOT the marxist principles it was founded on... It was obviously due to the individuals latent capitalist tendencies and resulting failure to honestly embrace true socialist principles.
It was also the fault of the neighbouring capitalist flats, with their refusal to share technological advances like vacuum power, their hoarding of chemical and biological agents such as bleach and disinfectant. It was only natural that the capitalist flats purchase and exclusive retention of nuclear power (in the form of microwave ovens) would cause the Marxist flat's occupants to suffer fear and simultaneous envy of this technology and it's possible uses. I note that there was no mention of any accord or peace talks from the Capitalists, and I suspect that the economy ultimately foundered due to the Marxists attempts to match their capitalist neighbours technologically advanced possessions. I bet the capitalists didn't car share either.
