It would forever fuck your life - even if cleared of charges. Every second person you interact with forever would be second guessing about your innocence or guilt forever.
Edit: oh ya, and if this guy is found guilty, I can only wish the worst punishment available on him.

Does it really matter? I hate people! For their judgemental behavior. Tarnish your reputation? Pah! Fuck them. Anyone who knows you as closely as your family and friends do, know you are not capable of this crime, they, truely, are the only ones who matter. Sure people can change. It is never certain. But if I was ever falsely accused I'd simply legally change my name after the media heat died down. Then I'd still know my new identity would somehow be leaked to the press, in spite of that. God damn America. No privacy. I do despise the the courts for prosecuting the innocent and releasing the guilty. The lesson is simply don't do anything. Don't share your personal things with others you have barely met. I could go on but in short, you must know a person before you can trust them. What decides that? Time. The longer you have known the person the better you know what they are capable of. This kind of thinking only applies to the concept of innocent/guilty.
Fighting the system...the rest conform.
