It sucks. You expect grandparents and parents to go before you - it won't be fun, but it's an accepted part of life. When we're all old, our friends will start dying and that's a pretty normal part of things, too. Not a fun part, but one we prepare for to some degree as life goes by.
People aren't supposed to just have a random, completely unexplainable seizure (no prior history) in a store, hit their head and be dead of massive inter-cranial hemmhoraging before they get to the hospital when they're 38. And... you've been together for 6 years.
If it ever happens to you, try running a marathon two days later. I dare ya.
