I've never been out in Toronto but from what I've been told they have a whole club district, where there's dozens of bars all together. Just jump in a cab and tell him to take you downtown and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Actually, you wouldn't be fine.......

He'd drop you off downtown allright, right at the Eaton Centre at Younge and Dundas. Hope you are planning to do a little shopping

Tell the cab driver to take you to the theatre district, which is west of downtown. John street would seem to be the dividing line between east and west, and the bar action seems to start at King and go north.

Take your pick i suppose.

Personally i find that area a bit much to handle but since you are 22 it may be perfect for you. (I am a wee bit older than you.) Alot of these bars have line ups all the time just for the sake of looking cool. My idea of fun doesn't include standing in line for 2 hours.

Wear black by the way.

I prefer the college street and West of Bathurst area actually (Little Italy). There are some very cool laid back places there and lots of fine scenery. All along college street. You may prefer the energy of the theatre district though. College street is where the cool cats go.

There's also "the Government", which is a HUGE bar at the foot of Jarvis Street and Queens Quay (pronounced "key") and the biggest bar in Toronto i believe is called "the Docks". Just get the cab driver to take you there and you will be fine.

Find a room in a hotel downtown by the way, or if you are skint, try the University of Toronto and see if they are renting out their dorm rooms for the summer.

Wear black.

Be cool with people, don't give any attitude and you will be fine.
